As your family grows and you continue to add more vehicles and more drivers to your policy – you will see your premiums go up. That is right about the time you must attain more affordable car insurance.
Thanks to the internet-attaining affordable car insurance quotes is quick and easy. You won’t need to travel to an agent to get a premium quote; you can answer a few questions online which results in several competitive affordable car insurance quotes-without ever getting out of your night clothes.
Below I have listed some of the things that I have learned that assist in sustaining more affordable car insurance. You will see tips here that can be used on a policy that you have in place at this very moment. If you aren’t ready to start a completely new policy - just pick up the phone and call your carrier to mention some of these tips that may be of benefit to you and your family.
Please remember that not all insurance carriers are equal and some offer items that another may not. My information and tips for affordable car insurance is based on my own personal knowledge and my present affordable car insurance policy.
Take a look at these tips for lowering your car insurance:
Tips # 1: Safe driving records - this one speaks for itself and is widely used amongst most insurance carriers. Keep your license clean and free from traffic violations and you will see a discount for your “good driver “attributes. Your motor vehicle infarctions will remain on your record for 3 years therefore your insurance will be affected during that 3 year time.
Tips # 2: Electronic Funds Transfer - In order to get this discount you will need to set up an automatic payment option with my bank. This results in your payments coming out of your account the same day of every month or whichever you work out.
Tips # 3: Good grades discount for minors - Some insurance carriers will a “good grades” discount. This usually requires the child to remain an A-B average student. They are not allowed to drop below that average or else the discount is omitted. Similarly there is a discount for minors who are “accident free”. Minor drivers under the age of 19 must be accident free for 2 years for this discount to take effect.
Tips # 4: Homeowner discount - Unfortunately for renters, this offer is for homeowners only. Insurance carriers provide a discount for those customers that own their own home.
Tips # 5: Upfront payment - This is for those folks that have enough funds on hand to pay their entire premium at one time. Most customers make monthly payments and their insurance carriers tack on a fee every month for this “luxury”. My insurance carrier provides a very large discount for this option and supplies its customers with very affordable car insurance.
Tips # 6: College student away from home – If you have a college student that is living away at school for most of the year and is under the age of 23 – you may be eligible for a discount. There may be stipulations that the child needs to be living out of the home and not have a car at their alternate address (college address).
There is such a thing as affordable car insurance and now you know how to get it. Be sure to shop around for your policy and don’t take the first quote that you get. Comparison shop and remember you can haggle with insurance companies.
